This is the first gaming PC I've ever owned. And for the first month it was great. But I have no other gaming PCs to compare this to so take that for what it's worth.
Playing Call of Duty on it looks amazing. But about a month ago it started doing this weird thing where the monitor just seems to cut off. It goes all black. The computer will still be on though and keyboard stays lit up.
I have an external monitor hooked up to it and it stays on. So I know the computer is still running.
The problem is that the monitor won't come back on and you usually have to do a hard reboot to get it to come on again.
What triggers this is beyond me. The last time it happened (10 mins ago) I was just in a web browser.
I currently have the Razer Monitor and my external set to duplicate so the next time it happens I can at least see a screen to restart my computer. Previously it was set to extended.
Razer's site says to update the video drivers but mine are already at their latest. Their 2nd suggestion is to reseat the RAM.
They also state that the monitor could be defective. But a brief googling shows me that many people have my specific issue so it's either software-related or they put out a lot of faulty monitors.
Hoping I can figure out a fix or at least the cause of the issue.
Sometimes even my external monitor will go black along with the Razer monitor. And you can hear the drive spin down like the laptop is going to sleep. And you can hear that sound that is made when a usb device is detached. And if I then hit a key on the keyboard my external will come back up and you'll hear the hardrive spin up again. The Razer screen will still stay black though.
So I think that, for some unknown reason, the system is going to sleep but the monitor never snaps out of it when you try to wake the computer up again.
And I've turned OFF the sleeping of the system in the Power Settings.
I know one thing; I'll never buy a Razer product again!
